12.01.2009 HERRMANS SWITCHES TO MORE ENVIRONMENTAL
FRIENDLY RAWMATERIALS
Finnish bicycle component producer Herrmans renews its raw materials.
PVC
The DEHP softener used in PVC has recently been placed in the European Unions list of Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC). Due to the new regulations Herrmans has decided to switch to a new approved softener from the start of 2009. This applies to all of their PVC products.
Herrmans uses from the start of 2009 colour additives approved for food & medical packaging.
PHTHALATE FREE PVC
According to the norm 32006R1907R(1) published in European Unions Official Paper L136 29.5.2007 Article 56, 57, 67 and Appendix XVII, products for children are not allowed to contain Phthalates. Herrmans wants to take its responsibility for the environment and can already today offer on request customers their whole range of PVC products Phthalate free.
Herrmans uses from the start of 2009 colour additives approved for food & medical packaging.
TPE (kraton)
According to the norm 32006R1907R(1) published in European Unions Official Paper L136 29.5.2007 Article 56, 57, 67 and Appendix XVII, the PAH value may not exceed 1 ppm (mg/kg). Herrmans wants to improve even further and has from the start of 2009 changed colour additives used in TPE to those approved for food & medical packaging. This colour additives does not include any restricted substances mentioned above.
Per definition TPE material does not include Phthalates.
29.10.2007 HERRMANS GOT THEIR FIRST SEVEN SIX SIGMA BLACK BELTS
Terrence E. Russell of ABI Associates, INC. certified seven Six Sigma Black Belts at Herrmans Oy Ab on October the 26th 2007. The certified persons are Sören Johansson, Heikki Rytilahti, Johnny Finne, Patrik Haga, Stefan R. Sandler, Leif Ojalammi and Kaj-Anders Ahlskog. President Reijo Tiuraniemi was also certified Six Sigma Champion.
